Statement on Israel’s attack on Gaza
The Britain Palestine Friendship and Twinning Network today issued the following statement about the latest attacks by Israel on the people of Gaza:
Members of the 40plus friendship and twinning groups affiliated to the Britain Palestine Friendship and Twinning Network expressed their outrage at the latest attacks on the open prison that is Gaza.
Not content with sealing its borders to prevent anyone leaving and vital supplies and visitors going there, the Israeli state has again attacked sites in Gaza, killing over 30 Palestinians including 6 children and injuring in excess of 200.
Just over a year ago, 200 Palestinians in Gaza were killed by Israeli attacks.
Chair of the Network, Tony Pearce condemned the attacks and welcomed the ceasefire now in force. He also pointed to the lack of reaction from the UK Government. As the country which, more than any other, bears responsibility for the creation of the present situation, the Government should be making it clear that these totally inhumane acts are completely unacceptable. We should be initiating sanctions, especially on weapons, in the same way as we have done in relation to Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
Israel cannot be allowed to go on murdering Palestinian citizens, including children and face no consequences from the international community.
