Twinning with Palestine Conference - Birmingham Saturday November 2009

The fifth Twinning with Palestine London Conference was held in Birmingham.

Our Palestinian visitors participated in the workshops. We were also honoured to have with us a Palestinian teenager, Hamaam from Abu Dis, who had been shot by an Israeli soldier.

2009 U.K. National Conference - Welcoming new groups to the twinning network.

Agenda - the following workshops were held.

GAZA

Women's

- Visits - both ways

- One women in any delegation at least Initial visit with twinning network

- Geographical visits - UK and Palestine. Use all methods to make contacts with women / co operatives when visiting. Be pro active

Youth twinning

- Schools twinning

- Getting started - citizenship / unions / identifying teachers and learning areas

- Sustaining - photo exhibitions, visits, newsletters Things to do / done. Teaching packs (curriculum website), twinning packs on web site, blogging

- Funding. British Council (apply early) Unions (esp. NUT and Unison)

- Local fundraising / using former school equipment - better to send cash) IT and communication - internet connection, Palestine Authority otherwise you could get into trouble
