- | ![]() Twinning with PalestineThe Britain - Palestine Twinning Network - "promoting twinning and friendship links" Activities for the network in 2010 include * Women's visit March * visits to Palestine April and October * CONFERENCE in November Twinning with Palestine Conference - Birmingham Saturday November 2009 The fifth Twinning with Palestine London Conference was held in Birmingham. Our Palestinian visitors participated in the workshops. We were also honoured to have with us a Palestinian teenager, Hamaam from Abu Dis, who had been shot by an Israeli soldier. TWINNING WITH PALESTINE - Building Bridges not Walls 2009 U.K. National Conference - Welcoming new groups to the twinning network. Agenda - the following workshops were held. These are the main points that came from each worksop. Charity? - Legitimacy - Protection Clear aims / objectives and focus - Financial Enforces non political - Reaches wider groups of people Can campaign only in line with constitution GAZA - Awareness - Humanitarian not political Social networking sites facebook / myspace - Christmas school packs. Fun approach - music art graffiti - Council support - School children art exhibition - Peace postcard Link rather than twinning Women's - Visits - both ways - One women in any delegation at least Initial visit with twinning network - Geographical visits - UK and Palestine. Use all methods to make contacts with women / co operatives when visiting. Be pro active - Website - more detailed guide Visa applications and pitfalls with paperwork in UK and Palestine - Women's group established (link?) Youth twinning - Schools twinning - Getting started - citizenship / unions / identifying teachers and learning areas - Sustaining - photo exhibitions, visits, newsletters Things to do / done.
